Dental Cleanings and Therapy for Gum Disease
Cleaning your teeth every day at home, while important, is only part of a successful routine. The American Dental Association recommends that you visit your dentist at least once a year for a routine examination and cleaning to help ensure a healthy mouth. Your dental hygienist will use professional tools to remove the plaque, tartar, and bacteria build-up that you are generally unable to efficiently clean yourself. This brightens your smile and will also help protect you from tooth decay, tooth loss, and gum disease. If you already have a history of gum disease, you should get your teeth cleaned more often in order to prevent the reoccurrence of infections or disease. You should also have your teeth cleaned more often if you suffer from chronic conditions such as diabetes or heart disease due to the link between these diseases and tooth problems. Our office offers thorough and gentle preventative services and oral hygiene guidance for adults, children, and the elderly.

Cosmetic Bonding - A tooth-colored material used to repair a decayed, chipped, fractured, or discolored teeth. Unlike veneers, which are manufactured in a laboratory and require a customized mold to achieve a proper fit, bonding can be done in a single visit. Most often, bonding is used for cosmetic purposes to improve the appearance of a discolored or chipped tooth. It also can be used to close spaces between teeth, to make teeth look longer or to change the shape or color of teeth. Occasionally bonding is also used to protect a portion of the tooth's root that has been exposed when gums recede.
Fillings - The conservative application of either a silver or white-colored material into a tooth after an area
of decay (caries) has been removed. Your dental team is available to you to discuss and answer any questions about which material you will prefer.
Root Canal Services - Infected teeth can often result in a lot of pain, inflammation, temperature sensitivity, and sleepless nights. A root canal is needed when the nerve or nerves inside of a tooth have been compromised with untreated tooth decay or injury. Please call our office immediately if you feel you might be experiencing these problems. For extreme or atypical cases, we work closely with a team of local specialist to ensure you will have the best care possible.
Diagnodent Laser Cavity Detection - We can't cure what we can't see! The DIAGNOdent is a unique instrument that allows us to monitor
the areas below the hard surfaces of your tooth enamel. This pen-shaped tool glides over the surfaces of your teeth, allowing Dr. Cummings
to locate the hidden decay, and with treatment stop the spread of disease before it destroys the tooth from within. This new technology is
completely safe and 100 % pain free.
Extractions - Primary teeth (baby teeth) that need help to exfoliate. The removal of teeth that are infected, loose, decayed, or otherwise problematic (such as wisdom teeth).
Tooth Replacement Options - Call or come in to discuss how we can replace teeth that have been lost or congenitally missing. We utilize an excellent local dental lab to create fixed bridges, removable partials and full dentures. We work closely with top-notch oral surgeons if you want to explore the idea of dental implants, and provide full restoration services once placed.
